STUDENTS
Our team is made up of students from the Iowa City area. We currently have members from City High, Prairie, Mt Vernon, Marion, Liberty, and West High Schools. We welcome all students from 9th to 12th grade. Contact us if you are interested in joining our team.
MENTORS
Our team has professional engineers and specialists in STEM fields that volunteer as mentors. These include teachers from the Iowa City Community School District, engineers from BAE Systems, and more. Currently we are seeking an art or computer design-centric mentor. Contact us if you are interested in mentoring our team.
MEETINGS
We hold meetings at the Kirkwood Regional Center on Oakdale Blvd. in Coralville. Primarily, we meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. For our updated meeting schedule, check our team calendar.
COMPETITIONS
We typically compete in two regional competitions each year. We attend competitions in Iowa and surrounding states. The world championship is held in Houston, Texas. We last qualified in 2020.
OUTREACH
During the offseason, our team travels to various schools, fairs, businesses, and events to show off our robot and teach kids about STEM. We have been featured in the Iowa State Fair, the Coralville Children’s Museum's STEM Night, and the Iowa City Arts Festival. We also run educational camps in robotics and programming for kids from 3rd to 8th grade. Contact us if you are interested in having our team come to your event or location.
SPONSORSHIP
We would not be able to function without the generous donations and support of our sponsors. They have helped to inspire futures in STEM careers and spread awareness about STEM in our community. We thank them all for their generous support. Contact us if you are interested in becoming a sponsor.
VOLUNTEER
If you are unable to directly support Team 167, volunteering with FIRST is another great opportunity. Alumni, parents, and anyone interested in STEM are all encouraged to volunteer at FIRST events. Click here to learn more about volunteering with FIRST.
