No experience is necessary to join our teams! We partner with STEM professionals and companies throughout our community to best prepare students for team success and the future workforce.

FRC Team #167 Children of the Corn
This is our flagship program. Started in 1998 as the first FRC Team in Iowa, the Children of the Corn have inspired Iowa City Robotic's green and yellow corn theme through and through. This team is open to all 9th-12th graders in the greater Iowa City area and meets at our James St Lab space.

FLL Challenge #68956 The Corn Poppers
The Corn Poppers were our first FLL Challenge team started in conjunction with the Iowa City Public Library and sponsored by RTX. This team started after growing interest in youth STEM opportunities as students began aging out of our Junior Bots and Mini Bots programming. These teams are open to 4th-8th graders in the greater Iowa City area and meet at the Iowa City Public Library weekly throughout the Fall semester.

FLL Challenge Team #66118 Kernel Coders
The Kernel Coders started in 2024 as a partnership with the Iowa City Public Library. They are one of two FLL Challenge teams within our program. Both the Kernel Coders and the Corn Poppers sport signature popcorn bags as hats during the competition.

FLL Explore #34135 The Mini Corn Dogs
Spun off of our FLL Challenge program, The Mini Corn Dogs are an FLL Explore team made up of 2nd and 3rd grade siblings from our older teams. In addition to FLL Explore, our team also attempts to build a base FLL Challenge robot of their own to learn more about FLL Challenge during our pre-season scrimmage.

FLL Explore #35667 The Corn Patch Kids
After a successful 2nd grade pilot of our Junior Bots camps, we saw a large increase in 2nd and 3rd graders interested in FIRST LEGO League. This inspired the Corn Patch Kids! We are so excited to watch these students continue to grow as they age up to our FLL Challenge and FRC teams.
