Iowa Regional – Schedule & Reminders

Good afternoon,

It’s almost time for the Iowa Regional!

This competition is packed with activities, so please read through the itinerary carefully. Attached is also the slide deck from the parent meeting again with packing list reminders and venue details. 

Thursday Departure

Please have students at the lab by 6:00 AM on Thursday, ready to go. We will head straight to the competition.

Friday Schedule Highlights

Friday is a very busy day with the Impact Award interview, Leadership Award interviews, Student Ambassadors, 4th grade tours, and helping at the safety glasses table. Most roles take less than an hour, but these are important opportunities to demonstrate Gracious Professionalism and represent both our program and Iowa City well.

Anyone not actively involved on the field should be assigned to one of these roles. Please check the itinerary for your assignment, and reach out if your name is not listed.

Parents - Join Us for Lunch!

We will be having lunch every day at the Piazza Dining Center on campus. If families are interested in joining the team, we have extra meal cards for $11 per person, per meal.

Logistic Reminders

A few quick notes about the venue and logistics:

• Parking is $10 per day (cash) for parents attending

• All indoor concessions are cashless

• No outside food or drink is allowed in the UNIDome or McLeod Center

• Spectators are expected to follow clear bag policies; only team members may bring backpacks or larger items. This was loosely enforced last year, but that may change

Itinerary Updates

The hotel rooming list and a few schedule details are still being finalized. The itinerary will be updated before departure Thursday morning. Exact interview times and Student Ambassador schedules will be confirmed Thursday evening after we receive information from Pit Admin.

Discord Reminder

Students, please make sure notifications are turned on for #announcements and #competition for the duration of the event. This is extremely important for relaying information to the team throughout the day
